What we think philosophy is!
First things first! It’s been a week in 2024. For me, not that great. But I survived. Hope you also managed well.
Now on to the post.
Well, for amateurs philosophy means advising. No one likes advices or old people’s history. Because advices are pointing at your disabilities in a subtle way. Advices can scare you. Tell you, you’re going in a wrong path. We take all those hidden points very serious and quote,
“This is me. If you have a problem with that, I can’t help you”
“This is how I do”
“You are judging me”
“Stop being dramatic, oh god!”
“bjabfkjaauhbkjsbkje……….” Translate with your own rants.
Or some wise people would totally steer clear those who put a good advices in them.
Hey, I have been there. And yes! you have to play deaf with someone who educate you with negative intentions, which can affect your goals or stop you from moving ahead.
But my dear friend, ADVICE IS NOT PHILOSOPHY and PHILOSOPHY IS NOT FUNNY.
Those thoughts are real cliché, stereotypes, and BULLSHIT.
Ps: Sorry for the profanity. I really needed that.
What actually philosophy is?
I don’t study philosophy. So, I am just telling my view on that.
For me philosophy is a process to live. That simple, right!
I didn’t believe in poetry, philosophy or art at the beginning. I was that cool kid who thought moments were only good, only pretty things were pretty, kindness could only mean doing big things for many then democratizing it, standing tall means being beautiful, successful and the best at everything you do.
Yes, that was me. Now I understood the sharpness of poison in my beliefs when I hit the lowest. Everything changed.
Example: From being a ‘play if suggested’, I became a sucker for Ted talks. One of my favourites is Ethan Hawke’s take on why creativity is important. He touched many points. The gist is,
“Nobody understands the importance of art, poetry (philosophy) untill they hit the rock bottom”
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH HIM. You can never understand a poem if you’ve never reached there. That’s why many think poetry is vague.
We’re talking about philosophy, right? Poetry or philosophy or even movies – everything is art.
PS: If you haven’t seen his talk, please have a look. Are you asking why?
Well, I have seen Before Sunrise and nothing more of his work. Even in that I resonated with Julie more. After listening to his one Ted talk which is like nine minutes, I am in love with him. No kidding.
Back to my theory—-
Every action has a process. Set of rules, best practices or do’s and don’ts. From making a cup of tea to cracking that job interview and further. Sometimes, even the easiest work needs to be organized and should follow the guidelines. Otherwise, it could ruin the entire day. I know.
Have you ever thought, our life as whole itself a process?
Yeah, it’s philosophy. It fills the gap on how to live and the meaning behind real life. There are tons of thought leaders, philosophers or scientists who made bunch of their predictions on living and theories on problems, tragedies while trying to survive. Those discoveries are not jokes, not dramas but inevitable.
Just by knowing three to five philosophers, I am talking much. All because I let them in, the right time. I used to nick name some of my friends who talks thoughtfully as “ Aristotle”. It would go like,
“Aama ivar periya Aristotleuh. Solla vantaru”
Now Aristotle is my favourite philosopher (More about him in separate post).
With all that said, I should mention that the trend is changing. People are preferring poetry, books, art more nowadays. I am glad I am one among them too ;D
Thus, philosophy is the process to live.
Don’t applaud philosophies only in movies or when some popular celebrities say. Appreciate in a real person too!
Bye for now.
